FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thrilling and Popular TO film festival kicks off this week:
October 13, 2015
Toronto, ONT. (TNWS) – Horror, sci-fi, action and cult movie fans are in for a ghostly treat at the 10th Annual Toronto After Dark Film Festival (TADFF) that takes place from October 15 to 23, 2015 for nine thrilling nights in downtown Toronto.
This year the popular TADFF, with its growing and loyal fan base, will screen 20 films from around the world. The event fills a void following the highly successful Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) that celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.
Organizers are encouraged by the more than 1,200 film makers from around the world who submitted their works for possible screening at this year’s TADFF.
“The festival is growing by leaps and bounds every year and is becoming a must-see event in Toronto,” says TADFF Founder and Director Adam Lopez. “A special thank you goes out to the many people and organizations that helped to spread the word and make the festival a part of Toronto culture.”
TADFF’s fan-favourite All-Access Passes are still on sale for most of the movies being screened during the much anticipated horror, Sci-fi, Action & Cult Film Festival.
The Opening Gala Film Tales of Halloween (USA), which is making its Toronto premiere, features acclaimed film makers Neil Marshall (The Descent); Lucky McKee (May); Darren Lynn Bousman (Repo. The Genetic Opera) and Paul Solet (Grace) teaming up to deliver 10 entertaining tales of horror set on the same hellish Halloween night.
The festival closes with Deathgasm (New Zealand), that is also making its Toronto Premiere, and is about a group of Metalhead outcasts who unleash a horde of vicious demons on their sleepy suburban neighbourhood in this duel of blood and metal.
Making its Canadian Premiere is Lazer Team (USA), a crowd-pleasing sci-fi comedy about the earth being threatened by an advanced alien race and the planet’s only hopes lies in four morons.
Tickets range from $11 to $13 and are available for all screenings at TADFF’s Website, Cineplex Website and App; or better still in person at the venue.
Screenings start at 7 pm and 9:30 pm during the festival’s nine nights from October 15 to 23 at the Scotiabank Theatre, 259 Richmond St. W., Toronto.
