Many in the community are mourning the loss of Garnell Lorrain Henry the long-time owner of a popular Caribbean food restaurant in New Toronto.
Garnell was a loving mother, sister, cousin, grandmother, and friend. She passed away on August 11 at the age of 55.
She was a source of boundless love and warmth to all who knew her. Her kind heart and vibrant spirit touched many lives, and her memory will be cherished by her family and friends.
Her legacy of affection and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to be part of her life.
Garnell worked hard at her restaurant to make it a success. Her delicious curry goat and rice and peas dishes will be missed by many in the community.
A service was held to pay tribute her life on August 30 at New Haven Funeral Centre, in Mississauga.
“She was a great lady and she will be missed,” wrote Orchid Henry. “She fed our boys for over 20 years. We hold her ox tail and rice and peas as a standard of excellence for all others.”
“My heart is broken in pieces,” said Tiney Beckles. “You fought to the end and I admire how strong you were and I am proud of you.”
She is expected to be buried in Jamaica, her lovely homeland.
